The Eagle with the grape has become the international identification sign of the best German wines. The VDP associated wine growers guarantee with their own reputation for high quality wine production since 1910. The symbol of the VDP association is their comittment to this. It symbolises controlled products. Only products, which are passing well defined specifications are accepted in the German wine growers association. The high standard of the production site as well as the personal integrity of the owner are of significant importance. However, even longstanding members cannot just rest on their laurels. Every five years a new audit takes place, which is performed by experienced collegues.
The regulations of the VDP wine growers are highly demanding: this especially
relates to the weight of the grape must and the maximum harvest per square
meter in order to support the level of quality - demands which are even
more rigorous than defined by the appropriate laws. This is the reason
why the VSP associated wine growers are leading the the area of classic
Spätlese (late vintage wines) and Auslese (wines from selected grapes).
